Recording
There are two common methods for recording video, tape and digital. Recording to tape is an older technology that utilizes VCR’s designed to loop recording once the tape has reached the end of its reel. This method of recording is not the ideal. The recorders have parts that are constantly in motion which causes breakdowns overtime. It also requires that operators store and organize tapes. Digital recording is more efficient. Video is recorded directly to hard disks within the recording unit. The recorders have very few moving parts and have a much longer lifespan than older tape recorders.
Digital video recorders, commonly referred to as “DVRs”, come with a robust set of features. The units that we install can be set to record only when there is a change in pixels within an image, meaning an idle picture doesn’t record video to the hard disk. This maximizes recording time on the hard disk and still captures all the action. Our units can also be set up for remote viewing, a very popular feature. This allows you to login to the recorder unit via the internet and view all cameras on your system in real time! The system will also allow you to review logged video from the remote location. It doesn’t matter where you are, as long as you have a high speed internet connection you can be linked to your facility!
